De hele wereld af reizen, Haute Couture modeshows mee lopen en elk moment van de dag netwerken. High fashion model Silke Hajunga van onder andere “Models in Paris” gaf ons een kijkje in haar leven/carrière. Er volgen antwoorden over haar daily routine maar ook tips voor opkomende modellen.
Wie is jouw grootste inspiratie?
Claudia Schiffer, wat een droomcarrière heeft deze prachtvrouw waargemaakt. Ze is zelf ook gescout, en met haar vader vormde ze een goed team. Hij hield haar administratie bij, en zorgde dat al haar inkomsten klopte.
COVID-19 heeft natuurlijk veel impact op modellen aangezien zij heel veel reizen. Silke heeft wel slimme oplossingen ervoor gevonden. Silke: “Voor corona was ik elke dag aan het werk, en altijd op pracht locaties aan het shooten. Helaas kwam COVID-19 en werden mijn shoots in Mauritius & Sri Lanka gecanceld. Dit vond ik echt heel erg jammer, aangezien deze reizen niet later terugkomen. Want de fashion industrie heeft het nu erg zwaar.
Nu geniet ik erg van de rust, sport ik elke dag en ben ik bij mijn familie. Tijdens de corona tijd heb ik nog gave projecten mogen doen, via Zoom Call met teams wereldwijd (NY,LDN, IT,NL) dit wordt zelf geëxposeerd in Palais de Tokyo in Parijs! Veel wordt nu digitaal gedaan, en ook shoot ik nu in Nederland. Het is voor iedereen even afwachten, en rond September hoop ik weer veel te mogen reizen en werken.”
Carrière switch???
Modellenwerk is echt mijn vak, ik zou niets anders willen doen. Maar ik heb erg veel ambities naast modellenwerk. Graag ga ik samenwerken in de kunstwereld, en mijn eigen kunst maken. Ook lijkt me Creative Director een interessante baan, aangezien ik nu al dolgraag mijn eigen shoots opzet en de teams bij elkaar vindt om prachtige beelden te maken.

“Models in Paris” is een programma op Videoland waarbij ik het echte leven van een model heb kunnen laten zien. Hierbij hebben ze mij voor 8 weken in Parijs gevolgd tijdens de Haute Couture shows & andere mooie opdrachten. Hiervoor was ik al 3 jaar model, en wilde ik dus graag mijn carrière laten vastleggen en laten zien dat modellenwerk hard werken is.
Is jouw kledingstijl veel veranderd sinds dat je model bent?
Zelf heb ik altijd van Vintage kleding gehouden, en zoek ik altijd naar mooie unieke kledingstukken van goede kwaliteit. Door modellenwerk ben ik wel bewuster geworden van merkkleding, en draag ik dat nu meer dan vroeger.
Een paar jaar geleden had je het erover dat je graag het gezicht wilde zijn voor een nieuwe parfum lijn. Is dit inmiddels gelukt of is dit nog steeds je doel?
Klopt!! Dat is nog steeds een doel van mij. Hiervoor worden vaak bekende actrices voor gekozen, en is het moeilijk om als model ertussen te komen. Na “Models in Paris” heb ik ook een acteercursus gevolgd en afgerond in London. Dus laat de parfum campagne maar komen haha 😉
“Je moet altijd voorbereid zijn”
Veel mensen weten niet hoe hard de modellenwereld kan zijn. Wat vind jij het heftigst?
Vooral in het begin weet je niet wat je te wachten staat, en moet je altijd beschikbaar zijn voor jobs in het binnen en buitenland. Je agency kan je elk moment bellen voor een opdracht, dus je moet altijd voorbereid zijn.
Wat zie je jezelf doen als je 50 bent?
Wie weet word ik wel een Oma-Model 😉 met een eigen bedrijf in kunst/fashion ernaast. En zeker een prachtige familie met kinderen!

Onderzoek eerst of de modellenwereld geïnteresseerd in je is! Dit heb ik zelf ook gedaan, door o.a mee te doen aan The Model Convention. Hier komen allerlei agencies wereldwijd bijeen in Amsterdam, om de nieuwe modellen te scouten.
